Canister Vacuum Ratings

93.9 Ratings are excellent for the LG Kompressor PetCare Plus Canister Vacuum Cleaner (model LcV900B).  Owners really like the Kompressor technology, washable filters, strong suction and remote controls on the handle.  Some feel the cord is a little short and that the vacuum is heavier than most but even these consumers still comment favourably on most other aspects of the LcV900B.

90.6  The Electrolux Ultra Active Bagless Canister Vacuum - model EL4300A - is getting excellent ratings from consumers.  It has HEPA filtration, suction control, brushbar on/off controls, and a host of tools.  It is also lightweight and quite compact, however some owners feel the dirt canister is a little small and the power cord short

83.5  The Dyson DC23 Turbinehead gets good consumer ratings.  It is also less expensive than it’s big brother the DC23 Motorhead.  Consumers like the fact that it is sturdy, compact and has good suction, however they also voice concern about the short power cord and the small dust canister.

93.1  The Hoover Commercial Portapower vacuum cleaner get top notch ratings from consumers.  It is also not too expensive and is incredibly light (just over 8lbs).  It does not have a rotating brushbar however so it's effectiveness on carpets is limited.

81.7  Consumer ratings for the Hoover SH40060 place it in the lower end of the “good” range.  This is a bagless, canister vacuum with a powered nozzle and HEPA filtration.  Many owners are impressed with the suction and also the reasonable price of the machine but quite a few feel the power cord is too short and some have resorted to adding an extension cord.

88.1 This Panasonic canister vacuum fared very well in recent Consumer Reports testing and also sells well on Amazon.  Consumer ratings are quite good and owners like the sturdy construction, quality tools and light weight of the vacuum, although comments regarding the fact that the headlight turns off in “Floor” mode and that the tools do not “click” into place are common.

86.9  Consumer ratings for Electrolux UltraSilencer Green (model EL6984A) are not plentiful but those available indicate a reasonably high level of satisfaction.  Comments do indicate however that this machine is better suited for hard floors and area rugs than deep pile carpet.

88.9  This is a highly rated machine that purportedly is a very effective canister vacuum (although ratings are limited).  Consumers like the fact that it is stylish and has a very long 6-year warranty, however some find it heavy.  A review of comments indicates that this machine is best for larger cleaning jobs and may be “too much” for smaller cleaning spaces.  Also of note is that Consumers Digest has considered the S3865 as a Best Buy.

85.8  The Bissell Zing canister vacuum model 10M2 is a bagless machine and is getting pretty good consumer ratings (there are a few other models of Zing as well – the 7100B and the 22Q3 – these are both bagged).  The 10M2 is a very inexpensive at about 50 bucks.  It is also a very basic machine and includes an easy-to-empty dirt canister, auto-cord rewind and both bare floor and carpet cleaning capability.

71.1  Customer ratings for the Hoover S3670 canister vacuum vary widely – from poor to excellent.  You either hate or love this machine.  The S3670 bagged canister uses Hoover’s WindTunnel Technology, comes with a number or attachments and is HEPA capable.

92.0  Like other Sebo vacuum cleaners the K3 is expensive.  However it gets very good ratings from consumers.  The K3 is a bagged canister vacuum with HEPA level filtration.  It is also a completely “sealed system” so that all air passes through the vacuum filters and there is no dust leakage – this is good if you suffer from allergies or asthma.

97.2  Like many other Miele vacuums the Olympus gets very good customer ratings.  Miele vacuums are typically fairly expensive however the Olympus is commonly found for 299USD.  It is the entry level canister vacuum in Miele’s new S2 series.  It is a bagged machine and, according to the Miele website, is recommended for short-pile carpeting, area rugs and smooth flooring.

85.9  The Eureka 3684F Pet Lover Mighty Mite is a small lightweight canister vacuum that gets good solid consumer ratings.  It is relatively inexpensive and can sometimes be found for 100USD or less.

56.5  The Bosch BSG71360UC canister vacuum is not a highly rated machine.  Bosch have provided a 5-year warranty on the motor however.   

72.0  The Bosch 2200UC is a lightweight canister vacuum with average consumer ratings.  This canister actually weighs less than 10 lbs - which is very light for a canister vacuum.

98.0  The Miele S4212 Neptune is part of the Miele S4 series of canisters.  There are a number of consumer ratings on Amazon but little elsewhere.  Ratings on Amazon are stellar.  The Neptune comes with a Turbo Brush which makes it effective on low to medium pile carpet and pet hair.  The entry level Miele S4 is the S4212 Polaris which is best on low pile carpet and bare floors.

91.4  The Miele Titan is part of the newer Miele S2 series of canister vacuums.  Other vacuums in this series include the Delphi and the Olympus.   The Titan is the high-end of the S2 spectrum and it is ideal for low to high pile carpeting and hard surface flooring.  Consumer ratings are limited but very good.

77.9  The Kenmore Magic Blue vacuum cleaner is a bagged canister vacuum with a 10 amp motor.

84.7  The Panasonic MC-CG885 OptiFlow is a bagged canister vacuum cleaner and it gets good consumer ratings.  There are also a number of comments as to the "look" of the vacuum.  It seems some consumers feel it is an attractive machine.

76.1  The Panasonic MC-CG467 Multi-Surface vacuum cleaner is a lightweight, compact bagged canister that gets average consumer ratings.  Costs are in the 100+USD range. 

92.3  The Miele S4210 series of vacuums includes the Miele S4210 Sirius, S4210 Antares, and the S4210 Carina.  These are very highly rated vacuum cleaners and are all still available (although getting harder to find).  They have been replaced with the newer S4212 series which are pretty much identical to the S4210 series.

92.6  The Miele S516 Cat & Dog vacuum is designed to remove pet hairs and it also comes with a charcoal filter to help alleviate pet related odors.  Consumer ratings are excellent.

93.6  The Miele S5280 Callisto is a bagged canister vacuum.  Like many other Miele vacuums it get very good reviews from consumers. The latest model of this vacuum is the S5281.

93.9  The Miele S4212 Polaris canister vacuum gets great ratings from consumers.  It is the latest version of the previous Miele S4210 Carina and is recommended for bare floors, and short-pile carpeting.

61.1  The Bissell 6900 DigiPro is a canister vacuum has variable power control and is a bagged machine.  Unfortunately it is not very popular with consumers.

80.0  The Electrolux Twin Clean (model EL7055B) vacuum is a bagless canister.  Ratings are good and it is reasonably expensive (typically over 300USD).

73.1  The Electrolux EL6988D Oxygen3 is a canister vacuum with HEPA H12 filtration.  It is also a bagged machine and utilizes Electrolux-s bags which have an auto-close system that ensures no dust leakage when swapping out the bag. 

83.1  The Electrolux EL6985B Harmony vacuum is also known as the Electrolux EL6985B Harmony Ultra Quiet Canister vacuum and it is specially designed to reduce noise.  Consumer comments indicate that it is indeed very quiet.

77.8  The Dirt Devil Vision Turbo (model 082700) vacuum cleaner is a bagless canister.    It is a fairly quiet machine and typically sells in the 150 USD range (sometimes less).

81.1  The Dirt Devil Breeze Canister vacuum (model 082500) gets good consumer ratings and is relatively inexpensive, at typically less than 100USD.

77.0  The Dyson DC21 is a bagless canister vacuum with a lifetime HEPA filter.  Consumer ratings are only average for this machine and the power cord is quite short.

90.9  The Dyson DC23 Motorhead Vacuum Cleaner is a powerful bagless canister vacuum.  Consumer ratings for the DC23 are hard to find but those available indicate a very high level of consumer satisfaction.

83.3  The Eureka Whirlwind Vacuum (model 6510A) is a 12 amp bagless canister machine that comes with an array of tools.

88.9  The Eureka 3670G is a highly rated, bagged canister vacuum cleaner.  It is also very inexpensive - sometimes under 75USD.

80.2  The Hoover S3765-040 Windtunnel is a bagless canister vacuum.  Ratings vary for this machine substantially but it is noted for being fairly quiet and having strong suction.

92.0  A very well-rated vacuum.  This vacuum is both and upright and a canister as it comes with a detachable canister that can be worn over the shoulder (comes with shoulder strap).
