83.5  The Dyson DC23 Turbinehead gets good consumer ratings.  It is also less expensive than it’s big brother the DC23 Motorhead.  Consumers like the fact that it is sturdy, compact and has good suction, however they also voice concern about the short power cord and the small dust canister.

There is also a Dyson DC23 Motorhead and an important distinction between the two vacuums is that the Turbinehead has an air driven brushbar while the Motorhead has a motor driven brushbar.  The Motorhead is also a more expensive vacuum

A review of consumer comments from several quality sources indicates the following DC23 Turbinehead likes and dislikes:

PROS
- Strong suction power
- Useful attachments
- Compact
- Sturdy
- Easy to get under furniture
- Maneuverable

CONS
- Expensive
- Short power cord
- Can be hard to push head on carpet
- Instruction manual is not easy to follow
- Small dust canister
- Non motorized head

The Dyson DC23 Turbinehead is powered by a 12 amp motor that uses Dyson’s Level 3 Root Cyclone technology.  According to Dyson this is their most efficient cyclone technology for capturing microscopic dust.  Consumers do say that the DC23 Turbinehead has strong suction.  This canister vacuum is recommended for medium and short pile carpet as well as bare floors.  The air driven brushbar can be turned off for bare floor cleaning.

The Turbinehead comes with HEPA filtration which removes allergens from the air.  It is certified as asthma and allergy friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.  It also has a screen that kills bacteria and mold on contact.  Dyson call this the Bactisafe screen.

This machine comes with several onboard tools including a crevice tool, brush tool, and stair tool.  Consumers report that these work well.  The dust canister has a capacity of 0.44 gallons and there are some complaints that this is a little small and that the canister has to be emptied frequently.  The power cord is 21.6 feet in length and this is a little short.  It is, however, retractable.

The DC23 Turbinehead is fairly heavy tipping the scales at just under 20 lbs.  It has a cleaning path of 10 inches, lifetime washable filters, a 9.3 foot hose, a lightweight extension wand, and like all Dysons it is bagless.  The DC23 Turbinehead carries a 5-year warranty.
