Electrolux Ultra Active Canister Vacuum, EL4300A

The Electrolux EL4300A is a bagless canister vacuum that is powered by a 12 amp motor and it generates suction via cyclonic technology.  Cyclonic technology is the same approach used in Dyson vacuums and involves spinning air very rapidly to remove dirt and debris from the airflow.  It is reported to maintain suction while the dirt canister fills and to help keep dirt away from the vacuum filters.

The dirt canister on the EL4300A is said by consumers to be easy to empty.  It has a capacity of 1.1 quarts and there are a few consumer comments indicating that this is a little small and frequent emptying is sometimes necessary.

The brushbar on the vacuum can be controlled by a switch on the vacuum handle.  It can be turned OFF for vacuuming of hardwood floors, tile, linoleum or other hard surfaces and turned ON for vacuuming carpet.  Also, an auto-shutoff feature kicks in should the brushbar encounter an obstruction.  This feature helps save the motor and the belt from potential damage.  A reset button on the nozzle allows the unit to start again – after the obstruction has been cleared.  In addition, the nozzle on the vacuum has height adjustment to help ensure the right distance from the floor surface for optimal cleaning.

Like many vacuums today the Electrolux Ultra Active EL4300A comes with HEPA filtration.  This provides a high level of air filtration that removes allergens and many other minute particles from the air.  This is a popular feature with people who have allergies or asthma.  The HEPA filter on the EL4300A is also washable.  Many HEPA filters cannot be washed and have to be replace when dirty.  A washable filter saves money over time.

Several tools are provided with the vacuum and these include a crevice tool, a dusting brush, an upholstery tool, a bare floor tool and an extension wand.  The reach of the vacuum is reportedly ok for most consumers due to the length of the hose and handle but the power cord at 21 feet is indeed short.  The power cord does come with automatic rewind however, a popular feature with vacuum owners.

The vacuum is easy to carry as it has a carrying handle and only weighs 12.5 lbs which is very light.  It also has a cleaning path width of 13 inches, a headlight and suction control.  The suction has 3 levels and it is set via controls on the canister.  The Electrolux EL4300A carries a 5-year warranty.
