Eureka AirSpeed Gold (AS1001A)

90.0  The Eureka Airspeed Gold (model AS1001A) is getting very good reviews.  The weighted average consumer ratings provide an exceptional score of 90.0 which places it on the cusp between “very good” and “excellent”.  Users are impressed by the strong suction, easy-to-empty dirt canister and relatively quiet operation of this vacuum cleaner.  Many also feel it is well priced at just over $100.  It does have a few downsides however, and some owners complain about the weight and the need for frequent filter cleaning.

Airspeed technology, according to Eureka, involves large, smooth tubes that increase airflow through the vacuum – thereby increasing suction.  Indeed many consumers have commented that the Eureka Airspeed Gold does have powerful suction.  

This bagless upright vacuum is powered by a 12 amp motor and also comes with HEPA filtration.  HEPA filtration helps remove pollen, dust mites, mold spores, ragweed, etc from the air.  Technically High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filtration removes all particles greater than 0.3 microns in diameter from the air path.  This is often a popular feature with those suffering from allergies or asthma.

The dirt cup is easy to empty on the Eureka Airspeed Gold and the bottom simply flips open to allow the debris to fall out. The vacuum also comes with a very lengthy 14 foot hose (with wand).  Several owners have commented on the length of the hose and feel that it is a great feature allowing one to easily clean stairs and reach other hard to get at areas.  Combined with the 32 foot power cord this machine provides a full 46 feet or reach.

Tools provided include a crevice tool, a dusting brush and a stair and upholstery turbo brush.  The Airspeed Gold is designed for both carpet and hard floors and it has a motorized brushbar.  The cleaning path on this machine is quite wide at 14 inches and the vacuum weighs 18.5 lbs which is a little hefty but there are heavier uprights.  It also carries a 2 year warranty.
