82.3  The Hoover FloorMate FH40010B is an interesting idea that some consumers like and others don’t.  This is a 3-in-1 cleaning machine and it vacuums, washes and dries hard surface floors like tile, vinyl, and sealed hardwood.  In general, ratings for this unit are quite good with many owners indicating they like the cleaning capability of the machine as well as the ease of use.  However some folks feel that it doesn’t vacuum well and that it has to be moved very slowly for effective scrubbing and washing.

The FH40010B has a dial which you can set to vacuuming, washing or drying (step 1 is typically vacuuming, step 2 washing and step 3 drying).  It is suggested that areas are first vacuumed to pick up dirt and debris before washing.  The FH40010B uses 2 water tanks for washing.  One is for the clean water and the other for the dirty water.  This approach ensures that you are never putting dirty water back on the floor for cleaning.

The Hoover has cleaning brushes that counter-rotate and scrub from all angles to get at dirt and grime.  A trigger is also located on the FloorMate handle that allows the user to dispense detergent when needed while washing.  After washing the machine can be switched to drying mode and it will then suck the excess water up into the dirty water tank - thereby decreasing drying time.

The FloorMate is neither heavy nor light at about 16 lbs (weight is about average) and it has a 27 foot power cord.  It also uses soft, non-marring wheels and has a cleaning path width of 13 inches.  Beltless design ensures one does not have to purchase belts and a folding handle allows the unit to store easily.

The Hoover FloorMate SpinScrub FH40010B comes with 16 ounces of hard floor detergent and 30 hard surface wipes.  It also carries a 1-year warranty.
