96.2 The Hoover SH20030 corded stick vacuum is getting very good reviews – at least on Amazon.  It doesn’t seem to appear much on other retail sites.  The Hoover SH20030 is corded so this removes one of the biggest complaints with many stick vacuums, namely the short battery life.  Consumers like the fact that it has strong suction, is lightweight, and is not too loud.  It is also not overly expensive.

A review of consumer input from several sources provides the following Hoover SH20030 owner likes and dislikes:

- lightweight
- not too loud
- decent suction
- fairly good at edge cleaning
- dirt cup is easy to empty
- vacuum is quite maneuverable
- small footprint and easy to store
- works on bare floors and carpet
- filter maintenance is easy
- no battery issues like the battery operated stick vacs
- low profile suction nozzle
- easy to assemble

- some folks (but certainly not all) find re-attaching the dirt cup tricky
- dirt cup is small and needs to be emptied frequently
- some owners don’t like the swivel head feature much

The SH20030 uses cyclonic technology which essentially means that it spins the incoming air and debris at a very high velocity and allows the centrifugal force to push the debris out of the air-path and into the dirt cup.  This approach often results in no loss of suction while vacuuming and helps to keep filters cleaner longer (the Hoover SH20030 does not come with HEPA filtration).  It also operates on 120 volts.

The Sh20030 comes with a powered brushroll with with on/off capability.  A good feature as engaging the brushroll is important for carpet cleaning but it should generally be off for bare floor vacuuming.  The low profile nozzle combined with swivel steering helps to get under and around furniture easily.  The nozzle is 11 inches wide which is slightly wider than average for a stick vacuum.  Also a number of owners indicate that the edge-cleaning bristles work well and the unit cleans well right up to the edge of the nozzle.  The vacuum handle also reclines at a very low angle creating additional vacuum head reach.

The power cord on the Hoover SH20030 is 20 feet long.  This is short for a full size vacuum but for a stick vacuum it is not bad.  In addition, the dirt cup is bottom-empty and considered by many owners to be very easy to empty.  This bagless stick vac weighs about 9.5 lbs, has non-marring wheels, and carries a 2-year warranty.
