97.2 Like many other Miele vacuums the Olympus gets very good customer ratings. Miele vacuums are typically fairly expensive however the Olympus is commonly found for 299USD. It is the entry level canister vacuum in Miele’s new S2 series. It is a bagged machine and, according to the Miele website, is recommended for short-pile carpeting, area rugs and smooth flooring. The Miele Olympus is very lightweight at 13 lbs and is powered by a 1200 watt vortex motor (motor life expectancy is 1200 hours). It comes with a combination rug & bare-floor tool. Filtration on the Olympus is handled by Miele’s “Super Air Clean” filter which removes 99.95% of particles 0.5 microns in diameter or larger. Note that this is not as fine a filter as a HEPA filter (which removes 99.97% of particles 0.3 microns in diameter or larger). But an optional HEPA filter can be purchased and used in the Olympus if needed. Customers like the fact that the Miele Olympus is very light, maneuverable and powerful. There are very few complaints but some consumers have indicated that the power cord is a little short (21 feet) and the vacuum can tip over when you are pulling it around corners. The following table shows consumer ratings for the Miele Olympus vacuum cleaner:
