Panasonic MCUG471 Vacuum Ratings

78.4  The Panasonic MCUG471 is a bagged upright that gets average consumer ratings.  It has several good features including auto-height adjustment and HEPA filtration but it is quite heavy and is best for carpet (and less effective on bare floors).

The MCUG471 is powered by a 12 amp motor and it has a fairly wide leaning path of 15 inches.  It comes with a headlight – a feature liked by a number of consumers – as well as HEPA level filtration.  HEPA removes pollens, dust mites and other allergens from the air and as such is a good feature for those with asthma or allergies.

This Panasonic has “auto-height adjustment” and while it sounds rather high tech it really is simply the result of the nozzle of the vacuum more or less floating on top of the carpet (or other floor surface).  The bulk of the vacuum rests on the back two wheels thereby allowing the nozzle to “float”.  Consumers do mention that the vacuum is easy to maneuver.

The MCUG471 also comes with a stretch hose, 2 wands, a dusting brush, a crevice tool, an air turbine attachment – as well as auto-cord rewind.  The power cord is 24 feet in length and is perhaps a little short in our opinion.  This unit carries a 1-year warranty.
